NHL 4-25

Last night the Carolina Hurricanes took down the Washington Capitals in an epic double overtime Game 7. The Capitals jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period, but seemed to get complacent as the game wore on. Teams traded goals in the second period and Carolina scored one late in the period to make the game 2-3 in favor of the Capitals. Early on in the third period Carolina player Jordan Staal tied the game up. For the rest of the period and into the first overtime Carolina looked like the more aggressive team and controlled the puck most of the time. Midway through the second overtime Hurricane player Brock McGinn scored the game-winning goal to seal the game and advance the Hurricanes to the second round. The game was the third-longest Game 7 in the history of the NHL. As the final game of the first round wrapped up, the second round games begin today. The Boston Bruins will take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in Boston at 7pm. Too me I don’t have a clue who will win this game, but withe the Blue Jackets dominating the Lighting and having a lot of rest, I have them taking Game 1. The second game tonight is between the St.Louis Blues and the Dallas Stars at 9:30pm . It will be a home game for the Blues, who I believe will win this game and eventually the series.

The NFL draft also begins today with the first round live for Nashville,Tennessee at 8pm. The Arizona Cardinals will have the first pick in this years draft, followed by the San Francsisco 49ers and the New York Jet’s

NHL recap and game preview 4-24

Last night the Boston Bruins ended the Toronto Maple Leaf’s season winning 5-1 in Boston. The game was close with the Bruins up just 2-1 after the second period, but an early 3rd period goal from Sean Kuraly help boost the Bruins to finishing the game and adding two more goals. The other game the night featured the San Jose Sharks beating the Las Vegas Knights in dramatic fashion to send the Sharks to the second round. Early in the 3rd period the Knights were up 3-0 and it looked like the Sharks season would soon come to an end. However, in a spam of just over 4 minutes the Sharks scored 4 goals all on the power play to take the lead. Just when the Sharks thought they had secured the win, Johnathan Marchessault of the Knights scored with under a minute left to play in the game and send it to overtime. In overtime Sharks player Barclay Goodrow put the game winner in the back of the net and advanced San Jose to the second round. The game that is featured tonight is another Game 7, this time between the Washington Capitals and the Carolina Hurricanes. The game will be played in Washington D.C. with puck drop at 7:30pm. In a series were each team has won at home, it would seem like the Capitals have the advantage. I do think it will be close, but if the Hurricanes keep playing aggressive they will go on to win 4-3.

NHL game preview 4-23

Tonight is a very exciting night for hockey fans as there is two Game 7 games slated tonight in the first round of the NHL playoffs. The first one will take place at 7pm that features the Toronto Maple Leafs taking on the Boston Bruins. The game will be played at TD Garden in Boston, giving the Bruins the home-ice advantage. The winner of this game will take on the Columbus Blue jackets in round two of the playoffs. There have been a few game 7’s between the Leafs and Bruins in recent years with the Bruins getting the best of the Leafs in those games. However in a series in which both teams trading wins (with Boston winning the past game), I have Toronto winning tonight in a close game on the road. The second game tonight is between the Las Vegas Knights and the San Jose Sharks. The game is scheduled to start at 10pm and be played in San Jose giving the Sharks the home-ice advantage. The Sharks have stormed back into the series after being down 1-3 after Vegas got the best of the first four games. In an extremely intense double overtime Game 6 that ended in the Sharks winning in Vegas, I believe that Vegas won’t be able to handle San Jose and that the Sharks will move on to play the Colorado Avalance in the second round.
